2018 was a great year for us. Even with a smaller vegetable offering, we continue to see new faces on the farm and also many familiar faces. Many of you are now our friends, if not part of our family. We greatly appreciate your continue support for our tiny farm as we do our best to bring fresh food and new experiences to you and your family.
As many of you already know, we both have full time off-farm jobs. At times, we struggle to keep the farm operational while working our other jobs during the week. Many of you have graciously offer to help us and your help certainly makes it easier for us to keep it going the last few years. As we continue to find ways to make our operations more efficient and push ourselves to do better, we have to admit that it has not been easy.
Last year, we both changed jobs and we found ourselves with a lot less time outside of work. As much as we love growing food and seeing everyone here, we have decided that we will not grow vegetables for market this year. We will still have open u-pick hours when we have raspberries and blueberries for picking. Those beautiful dahlia? They will still be available along with a few other flowers (either precut or u-cut). Please stay tune for those dates. We will also have a small plant sale this year with various vegetables and flowering plants/seedlings for your garden tentatively on May 4th, 2019. We are working on a few other ideas as well and we will let you know the second we have all the details.
Another big change this year for the farm is everything we offer will be on a sliding scale or donation based. That means you can pay as much as you want for our produce or none at all. This is our effort to make fresh berries and produce accessible for everyone. So how does it work? We will post suggested pricing in our farm stand and have a cashbox available. You are welcome to use our produce scale if needed. Depending on your personal financial situation, you determine how much you think you can/should pay us from there. If you pay with cash or check, just deposit them in the cash box. If you want to pay by card, just flag one of us down. Please bear with us as we try out this new concept and iron out all the details.
With that said, here are a few favors we ask of you:
- Please keep in mind that we don’t pay ourselves to farm and it does cost us money to grow/produce anything we offer.
- Please do not pick anything that isn’t ready.
- Please don’t take more than you need.
- Please keep an eye on your kids at all times for their safety
- Please be considerate and respectful of others
Thank you as always!
