2018 Season

The 2018 season is now in full swing and we are now open for business.  Our regular hours is every Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Occasionally, we will open during the week if we have enough produce and berries to warrant it.

After much deliberation, we decided to scale down our vegetable operation this year.  Our front and main vegetable field will be fallow while we utilize the back garden area and our two poly-tunnels for vegetables.

The raspberries have suffered much damage this year by the deer, but we still have raspberries for picking from the front half where the deer doesn’t frequent.  It is a wonderful year for fruit trees.  It is the first year that we have cherries for picking.  Our  plum trees are full and pear trees look to be bountiful.  Our apple trees do suffer deer damage as well and we will see if we will get many apples this year. The blueberries are performing splendidly and will be ready for picking shortly.

If you haven’t already followed us on Facebook, please do since we update it frequently with what is available for picking.  We’d love to see you on the farm.

Happy Summer!

Retrospection of 2017 Season

As the year comes to a close, we have been thinking a lot about this past growing season and the plan for the upcoming season. This year marks our second year here. Through the past two years, we have learned so much more than we ever did. We have met more people than ever before, and many of you become our friends, our mentors, and our biggest supporters. We couldn’t have been more grateful to be part of this community. Through your support, we have been able to continue sharing our flavorful and nutrient-dense berries and vegetables, and applying sustainable farming practices on the farm. We invite you to watch this short video which shows why your support has been so important to us and other small farms who try to do the right thing. And once again, thank you for your support!

Closing of 2017 Season

Our growing season has come to a close so we no longer have a set open hour. We still welcome you to stop by the farm and visit us. We have some summer produce and continue to grow a small amount of vegetables going forward.  Take a look at a list of currently available produce and contact us if you would like to stop by.  We are mostly around but appreciate a heads-up.  Thank you!

The second to last U-Pick Saturday this season! Time to stock up for the year. Get your onion, garlic, and potatoes.  They store for a long time.  We have been making a lot of tomato sauce with our heirloom tomatoes. They make for delicious sauce. We’ll be making red salsa next with them and green salsa with the tomatillo.   Time to get some of those basils and garlic for pesto too.  We freeze the pesto in ice cube trays, then use them in the winter for a boost of fresh basil flavor.

The extended hot weather has slowed things down a bit on the farm, but it brings an abundant of tomatoes, peppers, and beans.  We managed to get a few fall vegetables in the ground under cover while we look forward to the cooler weather to get more carrots and beets in the ground.  The tomatillos are also ready now. They are excellent in roasted salsa verde.  We have jalapeno and cherry bomb peppers to compliment the dish. Baby bells and full bell peppers are available as well.  The sweet yummy orange peppers are showing up as well. Blueberries are still around for picking.  Also, don’t forget to walk to the back of the veggie field to see the amazing dahlias in full bloom right now, right next to the towering sunflowers.

It has been a hot week and it will continue to be hot.  The tomatoes are still coming in full force.  The beans are making their entrance with force!  We have from green beans, to purple beans, to rattlesnake ones.  We still have a lot of cucumbers, both for pickling and fresh eating.  We dug up all of our potatoes, from red, to yellow, and even blue ones.  Our blueberries are still available for picking.  A lot of dahlia are blooming waiting to adorn your home. We make the transition from raspberries to blueberries this week.  The raspberries are now done for the season.  Despite being slow this year, the blueberries are doing really well producing extremely large berries.  We are digging up tons of potatoes, from fingerling to red and blue! Tomatoes are ripening in a hurry. It’s time to pull out the canner!  Some beans are showing up as well. We’ll try to keep the hungry deer away so that we can at least get some beans for pickling.  See you Saturday!
